This unique 32kW solar outdoor classroom is the second solar installation at Summit Elementary School.

This 60-panel project is currently under construction and fully funded. Structures like this can provide shade and shelter for outdoor class time, which is especially important at this location since it is the La Crosse School District’s environmental-themed elementary school. Unlike traditional rooftop solar arrays, an outdoor solar canopy allows students to visually see the panels at work.

Thank you to everyone who donated!

Funding sourced from:
The new federal direct-pay (Inflation Reduction Act), Wisconsin's Focus on Energy Program, a $25,000 Hammond Solar Moonshot grant, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association's Solar on Schools grant, ALM Charities, and other private donations.
