This unique 32kW solar outdoor classroom is the second solar installation at Summit Elementary School.

This 60-panel project is currently under construction and fully funded. â€‹Structures like this can provide shade and shelter for outdoor class time, which is especially important at this location since it is the La Crosse School District’s environmental-themed elementary school. Unlike traditional rooftop solar arrays, an outdoor solar canopy allows students to visually see the panels at work.

Thank you to everyone who donated!

Funding sourced from:

The new federal direct-pay (Inflation Reduction Act),  Wisconsin's Focus on Energy Program,  a $25,000 Hammond Solar Moonshot grant,  the Midwest Renewable Energy Association's Solar on Schools grant,  ALM Charities,  and other private donations.
