Summit Elementary School
OUTDOOR SOLAR CLASSROOM | CONSTRUCTION IN PROGRESS
This unique 32kW solar outdoor classroom will be the second solar installation at Summit Elementary School.

Estimated to be completed by Spring of 2025, this 60-panel project is currently under construction and fully funded. Thank you to all everyone who donated! The foundation is now complete, and Breezy Point Construction will soon be installing the outdoor classroom's structure.

Structures like this can provide shade and shelter for outdoor class time, which is especially important at this location since it is the La Crosse School District’s environmental-themed elementary school. Unlike traditional rooftop solar arrays, an outdoor solar canopy allows students to visually see the panels at work.

Funding sourced from:
The new federal direct-pay (Inflation Reduction Act), Wisconsin's Focus on Energy Program, a $25,000 Hammond Solar Moonshot grant, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association's Solar on Schools grant, ALM Charities, the Stry Foundation, and other private donations.
