Totaling 30 panels, the La Crosse Polytechnic School's 16 kW rooftop solar array offers unique benefits to a unique school.
After funding began in 2023, students at La Crosse Polytechnic can now view their school's first-ever solar array from right inside their classroom thanks to the financial support of grants, in-kind donations and individual donors.

Since this project was installed on top of the School District of La Crosse's only project-based learning school, the Polytechnic students get the chance to learn from the panels. This is possible through the development of hands-on lessons and advisor-guided projects each year. The array will offset roughly 53% of the schools electricity usage, making it one of the cleanest schools in the district and a model for future clean energy projects on La Crosse Schools!
Funding sourced from:
The new federal direct-pay (Inflation Reduction Act), Wisconsin's Focus on Energy Program, a $25,000 Hammond Solar Moonshot grant, the Midwest Renewable Energy Association's Solar on Schools grant, and other private donations.
