La Crosse Polytechnic

Solar on La Crosse Schools is proud to announce that our first project of 2023 is now fully funded and will begin construction soon!  

 

Through the support of grants, in-kind donations and individual donors, students at La Crosse Polytechnic will soon be exploring a 37.3 kW rooftop solar array at the school.  That funding includes the new federal direct-pay,  Wisconsin's Focus on Energy Program,  the Couillard Foundation and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association Solar on Schools Grant, as well as a $25,000 grant from the Solar Moonshot Project. 

 

As a project-based learning school in the School District of La Crosse, the Polytechnic students develop hands-on advisor-guided projects each year.  Next year, some of those projects can delve deeper into the school's new array, which is expected to be installed later this fall.  The array will offset roughly 53% of the schools electricity usage, making it one of the cleanest schools in the district and a model for future clean energy projects on La Crosse Schools!
