The location of our final project was also the largest rooftop array within our school district so far!

With a large and new roof, Southern Bluffs Elementary was the perfect school to go green. In August of 2025, Ethos Green Power Cooperative installed the La Crosse School District’s largest rooftop solar array. The 149 kW system at Southern Bluffs elementary is 276 panels in total.
The cost of the project to SOLS was around $150,000. This is the sixth and final project for SOLS. Thank you to all the donors, volunteers, and school staff who made this solar project a reality!
Our school district’s Energy & Transportation Manager signed a contract with Ethos Green Power Cooperative for this Southern Bluffs solar project, and the district contributed $50,000 towards this project’s expense. This is officially the first solar investment by the district, and is a huge step forward as a result of SOLS’ advocacy since 2020. The system size will be 149 kW (DC), making it the largest solar PV system in our school district so far!
